Binding a Receiver

To bind the LiteRadio 2 SE, please follow the below steps

  1. Power on the remote control radio transmitter and wait for its system to load completely. Ensure the throttle is at minimum
  2. Press the bind button on the back of the remote control radio transmitter. The power indicator will then flash red.
  3. If binding is successful, the LED light will change to blue. If not, repeat the process above.

How to use the LiteRadio 2 with a Simulator

  1. Ensure the battery is plugged in the back. Switch on the Radio by holding the power button on the front for 3 seconds.
  2. Lower the throttle all the way to the bottom.
  3. Plug in a type-C USB cable. You’ll need one with a data connection, as some are power only.
  4. Your computer should now recognise the LiteRadio 2 as a joystick input.

How to Switch From D16 to D8 Protocol

The LiteRadio 2 can run D16 (FCC), D16 (EU LBT) and D8 protocols. Here in New Zealand, we only use the D16 (FCC) and D8 protocols. By default, the radio ships in D16 (FCC) mode, which generally works for most models except micro quads, which often use D8.

To switch between protocols, follow the procedure below.

  1. Turn off the Radio by holding the power button for 3 seconds.
  2. Firmly hold the ‘Bind’ button on the rear of the Radio.
  3. While holding the ‘Bind’ button, begin powering on the radio by holding the Power button on the front for 3 seconds. Once the Radio vibrates, let go of the Power button.
  4. You will see the Red led flash once, twice, or three times depending on the mode it is in. The flashes correspond to the mode it is now in, and is cycled to the next one when following this procedure.

1 Flash = D16 (FCC)
2 Flashes = D16 (EU LBT)
3 Flashes = D8
4 Flashes = Futaba S-FHSS

Joystick Calibration

The joystick data may offset after it has been used for a long period of time. The user may need to re-calibrate joysticks based on the following steps:

  • After powering on, press the SETUP button on the back of the remote control radio transmitter, it makes two beep sounds, and the red LED flashes quickly (two flashes each time), which means the remote control radio transmitter has entered calibration mode.
  • Move throttle joystick and direction joystick to middle position, press SETUP button again, wait until the buzzer beeps three times, red LED light flashes quickly (two flashes each time), which indicates joystick data has been acquired and enter into the boundary value calibration mode.
  • Slowly rotate the throttle and direction joystick twice around the boundary of the joysticks (anticlockwise/clockwise), then press the SETUP button again, it makes a long beep sound for about 3 seconds. Then the red LED light stops flashing, indicating that joystick calibration is completed successfully.

This is a great little controller and is ideally suited for micro sized drones and simulators and a great budget controller if you just want to try out flying a drone in a simulator and not spend all cash on crashing your drone multiple times as I have. I wish this was around when I started.
