Everything you need to know about the DJI HD FPV System

DJI has completely transformed the way we fly FPV drones by introducing a whole new protocol which has never been previously used in FPV – Low-latency Digital transmission. By taking advantage of 4 FPV antennas and an increased bandwidth, we’re able to view our FPV feeds in goggles like we’ve never been able to before.

KiwiQuads is proud to stock DJI FPV products including full packages and any extra accessories you need. Today we’ve answered all the questions you might have about diving into DJI Digital FPV for the first time. If you have any questions we haven’t answered, feel free to leave a comment below!

What’s the latency of the DJI HD FPV System?

End-to-end latency is the total time it takes for information to be transferred from the camera input to the display screen. The lowest latency of the DJI Digital FPV System is within 28 ms and provides 720p/120fps image quality. This is achieved most often in wide-open areas with no electromagnetic interference.

What’s the resolution of the DJI FPV Goggles Screen?

1080×720 with an aspect ratio of 4:3, and 1440×810 with an aspect ratio of 16:9.

What’s the input voltage and power consumption of the DJI FPV Goggles?

The DJI FPV Goggles use an external battery with a voltage range of 7.4-17.6 V. Customers are recommended to use 4S batteries. The total power consumption is about 7 W. The battery life of one 4S 1600mah battery is 3.5 hours when used continuously.

What video recording format do the DJI FPV Goggles support?

MP4 videos at 720p/60fps.

What video files can the DJI FPV Goggles play?

MP4, MOV, and MKV (H.264) videos.

What storage cards can I use in the DJI FPV Goggles?

What ports does the DJI FPV Goggles have?

The DJI FPV Remote Controller has a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio interface. To use simulators, you must connect a dongle to the Remote Controller via the 3.5mm audio interface, then connect the dongle to your computer.

What happens if the screens or lens fog up on the DJI Goggles?

Drastic changes in temperature and humidity will cause the screens or the lens cone to fog up, which is normal. Avoid using the DJI FPV Goggles in environments where temperature and humidity tend to alter significantly. If the screen or the lens cone has fogged up, place the goggles in an indoor setting at room temperature and wait until the fog disappears. Keep the DJI FPV Goggles out of hot and humid environments.

Is the DJI Camera in the Air Unit detachable?

Yes. The DJI Air Unit Module, Coaxial Cable (connects air unit module and camera), and the DJI FPV Camera are all detachable. Users can purchase these accessories at the DJI Online Store and watch tutorial videos for instructions on how to detach them.

Do I need to do anything special to attach the camera to my FPV drone frame?

The DJI Air Unit camera uses standard M2 screws in the standard FPV camera size (Similar to RunCam / Caddx). The DJI Air Unit comes with 4 x 4mm M2 screws.

Is the DJI FPV System firmware upgradeable?

Yes, visit the DJI FPV System product page on the DJI official website, enter the downloads section, and download DJI Assistant 2. Power on all modules and connect them to DJI Assistant 2 to begin activating and upgrading.

If I record videos on the DJI FPV System, will the latency increase?

The video transmission latency will not increase if you record videos with the DJI FPV Goggles. However, the video transmission latency will increase about 5 ms if you record videos with the DJI FPV Air Unit Module.

Is the DJI FPV System compatible with Analogue FPV systems?
